ABOUT

Nicholas grew up in Gateshead and spent his childhood exploring Northumberland coastlines, castles and gardens. He studied fine art and graduated with honours from Newcastle University. In 2013 he won the HIX award which was judged by the artist Tracy Emin among others, and he was also included in the FBA Futures exhibit at the Mall Gallery in London, as well as being short-listed for the Saatchi New Sensation Award.

Nicholas has has taught fine art, photography and sculpture at Sir John Deanes College in Northwich, St Edwards School in Oxford and Harrow School in London. Meanwhile he has pursued his passion for landscape and garden design, working with private and commercial clients, running workshops with local primary schools, inviting established landscape artists to speak with students, and setting-up a horticultural society within his school.

Nicholas draws inspiration from a range of sources; from his contemporary art backround, to his love of natural landscapes, and his sketches and observations whilst travelling. Nicholas also has a strong interest in sustainability and his RHS exhibit aims to open a conversation about biodiversity, ecology, agriculture and threats to wildlife.
